She's determined to dismantle stereotypes of women as they appear in popular culture. Additionally, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women, and other marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Social and Political thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a sought after public speaking.
